Whether for testing in the laboratory, pilot plant or production, the YSI 7100 MBS is a powerful, upgradable Multiparameter Bioanalytical System with core features that make this platform a productivity tool for today and into the future. The unit, capable of measuring six distinct parameters simultaneously, builds upon the accuracy and precision of YSI's proven sensor technology with improvements in efficiency, flexibility and intelligence.

The fast and flexible YSI 2700 SELECT™ Biochemistry Analyser provides vital information about your processes in food and beverage, bioprocessing, and biofuel applications. It provides rapid, accurate analysis of key nutrients and byproducts, including:  

Glucose - Lactate - Glutamine - Glutamate - Ethanol - Lactose - Sucrose - Galactose - Hydrogen Peroxide - Methanol - Starch - Choline - Xylose 

The YSI 2700 can be configured in single or dual analyte mode. Combine many of the analytes above. Popular combinations include glucose/lactate, glutamine/glutamate, sucrose/glucose and xylose/glucose. Batch (with turntable) or online process monitoring and control options are available. 

Sample analysis can be carried out in two ways, benchtop or on-line with YSI 2700M version.

Couple the YSI 2700 SELECT with YSI 2730 Aseptic Monitoring & Control System and pull samples directly from a bioreactor, measure important nutrients and by-products and, if needed, immediately control the replenishment of nutrients. Maintaining sterility of the process is vital so all system components are sterilizable.

YSI glucose and lactate analysers have been recognized standards for the measurement of blood glucose and lactate for more than a quarter century. The YSI 2300 STAT Plus is known for its exceptional speed, performance and ease of use. It is a laboratory glucose and lactate analyser designed for flexibility. Measure glucose and lactate simultaneously in whole blood or plasma. Alternatively, configure the analyzer to measure glucose only in whole blood, plasma or serum, or measure lactate only in whole blood, plasma or cerebrospinal fluid. Requires only the sensor membrane and reagents for the chemistry you need.

Engineered to fit within a variety of bioreactors, the YSI 8500 delivers precise, real-time data that increases your understanding of critical fermentation and cell culture processes. YSI’s patented opto-chemical sensor technology can help you gain insight into cell metabolism and other changes within your bioreactor.

The YSI 8500 allows you to monitor dissolved CO2 via real-time display or you can use the instrument's plot function to see the data graphically.

You may also upload data to your computer or incorporate the output signal into your control processes. Data points can be logged as frequently as every 15 seconds, but can be set at longer intervals to reflect the length of your run.

The Flownamics SEG-FLOWTM 804M coupled with the YSI 2700 SELECTTM Biochemistry Analyser provides automated on-line analysis. The SEG-FLOWTM draws samples from 1 to 8 bioreactor vessels using the FISP(R) Cell-free Sampling Probe(s) and delivers each to the YSI 2700, or up to 4 analysers in all. The SEG-FLOWTM system can provide feed control to each vessel. In the feed control mode, the YSI 2700 sends the measured result back to the SEG-FLOWTM and posts it in the Flow-WebTM software. The system then activates a feed pump (or an existing feed system) based on the measured result and target concentration. There are multiple outputs to report data from each vessel. 

YSI Groton DASGIP

The YSI/Groton/DASGIP system provides a complete closed loop feedback control system by integrating the YSI 7100, the Groton Biosystems Automated Reactor Sample System and the DASGIP bioreactor control system. THe result is a powerful, automated online realtime feedback control system for mammalian cell culture.

A YSI 7100, which can measure up to 6 analytes simultaneously, and a Groton ARS-M, are connected to a DASGIP Parallel Bioreactor System (PBS) controlled by the DASGIP Control 4.0 OPC Edition Software (DCS). THe DASGIP PBS can operate multiple bioreactors at the same time controlling pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, agitation and liquid feeds independently for each reactor.

After the ARS-M input and output paths are primed, a sample is delivered to the YSI 7100 for analysis of feedstock concentration (glucose, methanol) and other analytes. The YSI Biochemistry Analyser then transmits the glucose concentration data to the Groton ARS-M server, where the data is stored. The DASGIP Control OPC client automatically polls for and retrieves new analytical data from the ARS-M OPC server. If the glucose concentration is lower than the set point, the DCS then responds by activating the appropriate system pump to deliver a calculated amount of glucose stock solution into the bioreactor to achieve the preset final concentration.

The current system is capable of connecting to and sampling from eight bioreactors. It can deliver the sample to as many as four analytical instruments (such as YSI Biochemistry Analyser).
